This day begins with a trip to Higüey, where, in addition to touring the streets, we will visit the country's largest and most important church, the Basilica of La Altagracia. Prepare to capture incredible panoramas of unrivaled wildlife with your camera in hand. Galloping through the outskirts of a lush, tropical countryside paradise.
Travel through a sugar cane plantation. Take a look at how the indigenous people ploughed this crop in the traditional way. Visit an artisan sugar cane mill and witness an authentic re-enactment of a colonial-era trapiche (wheel grinder). See how this crop evolves before your eyes, from cane juice to molasses and Vinasse to the finest Dominican rum. Perhaps the best mature, ripe tobacco has been harvested in this land, fit only for the world's finest cigar brands that use it in their manufacturing process.
This safari tour would be incomplete without the opportunity to learn firsthand from master craftsmen who have handcrafted the most coveted cigars for generations. To round out this journey, pay a visit to a local family at their home. They welcome you to their farm and coffee plantation with smiles. Also, take a moment to sample the genuine cacao and a variety of exotic fruits. This cultural immersion will undoubtedly be the highlight of your trip.
